Common Questions

Insurance Claim FAQs

Will filing a claim raise my rates?

In most cases, weather-related claims (hail, wind) do NOT raise your rates because the damage is an 'Act of God' — not negligence. Check with your insurer, but this is rarely an issue.

What's the difference between ACV and RCV?

ACV (Actual Cash Value) pays your roof's depreciated value. RCV (Replacement Cost Value) pays for a full replacement. Most homeowner policies are RCV — we'll help you understand your coverage.

My adjuster said there's no damage. What now?

Don't accept that without a second opinion. Adjusters sometimes miss hail spatter. Call us — we'll inspect and, if warranted, file a re-inspection request or connect you with a public adjuster.

How long does the claim process take?

Typically 2–4 weeks from filing to check. Emergency tarping same day. Once approved, roofing begins within 1–2 weeks depending on materials.

Do I have to pay anything out of pocket?

Only your deductible. Any contractor offering to 'waive' your deductible is committing insurance fraud in Illinois — a felony. GOAT Restoration always operates transparently and legally.

What if my claim is denied?

A denial isn't always final. We can provide documentation, request a re-inspection, or refer you to a licensed public adjuster who specializes in overturning denials.
